Crimson Rosellas

Feeding rosellas at Wilson's Promentory
This morning, we fed the crimson rosella birds again.  Then, we went on a 2 hour hike to a place called "Squeaky Beach", which is at one of the most southern tips of Australia on the Southern Ocean (as the Australian people call it), or the Indian Ocean (as the rest of the world calls it).  When you walk on the nearly white sand of this pristine beach, you can actually hear it squeak! This sound is caused when your feet rub the tiny rounded quartz crystals of the sand against each other.  The sand felt very soft under my feet, and it was fun making the squeaking sound.  I also managed to get my feet in the ocean even though it was not the warmest. Then, when we got back to our caravan, we had lunch, practiced our violins, and did school work until about 4:30 pm.  Lastly, we took a 15 minute hike to another beach called Cotters Beach, where we watched the sun set at around 5:40 PM.  As I said yesterday, it was a breathtaking, romantic kaleidoscope of colors as the sun made its flamboyant, dramatic descent and furtively escaped to the other horizowhere the people's slumber is coming to an end.  (OK that was even worse than yesterday's blog! #carriedaway).

Right now, at this very moment, and moments to come, we are continuing our drive up the western coast of Australia.  STATS: still long way to go.  So far, we have spent 22 hours driving, I the caravan.  We started 7 days ago.  That is approximately 3 1/7 hours driving per day.  Tomorrow, we are thinking of seeing an unused gold mine, and a used vineyard.  I wonder if we are going to see another sun set tomorrow.
