Twelve--No Eight--Apostles

Today, we saw a flabbergasting rock formation on the Southern Ocean shores of Victoria, called "The Twelve Apostles".  Or, at least, there used to be twelve.  There are now only 8, because 4 eroded and collapsed into the ocean, and washed away.  Even though the name is no longer accurate, I like the way it rolled off my tongue.  (I bet I maid you say The Twelve Apostles again!) The formations are made of sedimentary limestone.  Limestone is easily eroded by water.  Over time the crashing waves create and erode these formations.  They looked really cool and powerful.

We also took a one hour drive to a children's camp called Kangaroobie, so my dad could get some ideas for the summer camp that he works at, called Camp Belknap.  Kangaroobie is located in Princetown, Victoria, which is also where the "Twelve Apostles" is located.  Today was a lot of fun.

We also saw a replica of a maritime village, it showed how one of the early settlements in Australia was built.  The village had a church, a one room school house, a fire department, a clock shop, and heaps of other things.  Where the original settlement was, over 150 ships crashed, because the coast line was very dangerous, and the opening was very small.  The village was very intriguing, and so where all the stories.
